C’est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de monsieur David Chalk, survenu à Québec le 18 juillet 2018, entouré de ses proches, après avoir mené avec courage un long combat. Fils de feu Robert Keith Chalk et de feu Agnes Catherine Davidson, il était l’époux de Marie-Claude Ratthé. Il habitait à Québec.
Mari et père dévoué, il laisse dans le deuil, outre son épouse, ses beaux-enfants : feu Émilie, Patrick et André MacFarlane, ses sœurs Susan (Michael Head) et Christine; ses beaux-frères Christian (Josée Collard) et Étienne (Caroline Lizotte); ses beaux-parents Madeleine et Jean-Marie Ratthé; ainsi que ses neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Tout comme son père, son grand-père et son arrière-grand-père, David a été membre de la GRC pendant une vingtaine d’années, notamment à l’aéroport de Calgary et à Airdrie, en plus d’enseigner le maniement des armes à feu. La famille tient à remercier chaleureusement le personnel des soins palliatifs de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec ainsi que l’équipe des soins à domicile de l’hôpital Jeffery Hale pour leur dévouement et leur compassion.
La famille lui a rendu hommage en toute intimité. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Chalk, with family by his side, on July 18, 2018, in Quebec City, after a long and courageous battle. He was the son of the late Robert Keith Chalk and the late Agnes Catherine Davidson. Dedicated husband and father, he will be greatly missed by his wife Marie-Claude Ratthé and her children Patrick and André MacFarlane, his step-daughter Émilie having predeceased him. He was living in Quebec City.
He is survived by his sisters: Susan (Michael Head) and Christine; his brothers-in-law: Christian (Josée Collard) and Étienne (Caroline Lizotte); his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Madeleine and Jean-Marie Ratthé; his nephews and nieces; as well as many relatives and friends. Following the steps of his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David proudly served with the RCMP for two decades in Alberta, namely at the Calgary Airport and Airdrie Detachment, and as Firearms Instructor. Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at Hôtel-Dieu de Québec and the Jeffery Hale Home Care team for their dedication and compassion.
