Rory Smith 1955 – 2017

Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends Alistair Rory (Ror) Smith passed away on December 3rd, 2017 at the Wakefield Memorial Hospital following three courageous years living with prostate cancer.

Born October 23, 1955 in Newport Pagnell, England, Rory traveled and lived in many places around the world, although Wakefield, Quebec was the place he was proud to call home. Rory had an unwavering zest for life, was happiest swinging a golf club, hitting the ski slopes and spending time in PEI or with family and friends.

Lovingly remembered by his brothers, Randy (Dodie), Rod (Raye), Ric, and Russ (Jan); his kindred spirit and goddaughter Sydney; his nieces and nephews Mike (Heidi), Shawn (Andrea), Kate (Craig) and Olivia; great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion, Jazz. Predeceased by his parents George and Edna, cherished sister Edwina, and niece Wendy.

Many thanks to countless friends from both the Wakefield community and Hy’s Steakhouse for their support throughout his illness. The Smith family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the Wakefield Hospital, Dr. Brisson, the oncology team at the Gatineau Hospital, and the Masham CLSC.

Friends are invited to join in a celebration of life at the Wakefield Legion, 27 chemin de la Légion, to be held Sunday, December 17th, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.

In memoriam donations to the Wakefield Community Emergency Fund would be appreciated. http://www.wcef-fscw.ca/en/
